A total of 13 groups of students were involved in the session on 18 August, showcasing the culmination of all their endeavours throughout the entire semester!
One of the projects was on the topic of AI in Cybersecurity, accomplished by our Final Year Project (FYP) Group 2 students. The students successfully developed a compelling proof of concept as a crucial component of their project. Notably, the students captivated the attention of project stakeholders as well as visitors who visited their booth during the FYP showcase, at our Cyber Watch Center (CWC) labs.
FYP Group 2 Students eagerly explaining their project.
The students went through intensive research, extensive development and testing in order to ensure technical feasibility of the solution as well as to achieve good user experience. The results included an AI powered network intrusion detection system - called the AI Network Watcher a.k.a ANW. Some key features are the application of a "random forest" classification model on Network Traffic, automatic alerting system leveraging on the Gmail API, a website that helps users streamline data allowing the extraction of valuable insights (i.e., benign or malicious) from the data collected, and many more!
Kudos to the group for delivering a project that demonstrates the importance of AI, and how widespread its benefits are, specifically in the area of cybersecurity!
